 - looking at the weekend it occurred to me that the van has exactly the same size wheels/tyres as some of our caterham ones.....

This means these beauties:

...on my 68 Bay...

Ok, so I'll be honest - they'd wear out in about 3 corners on the van, but the not entirely stupid idea is that for the purposes of moving the van up from Somerset, they'd do fine, as I have a few lying around - the tyres currently on the van are a good few years old and perishing.
However - the real reason is that it will lower the ride height by a couple of inches - enough to ensure that the van will certainly fit in the garage we have lined up for her - it would have been about 50mm clearance but this should make it much more....

Still - it will make for some cool pictures.....

(I know they aren't slicks - but if anyone is interested they are Yoko A048's - pretty cheap, sexy tyres - quite soft. Toyo R888 is rapidly taking more of the market, if anyone is interested in a good value, sticky tyre!!)

That wouldn't be Angus from Angus and Tessa fame, must be you with a Blue Caterham and a Bay.

Graham here (aka Bacon Butty) just bought a 1970 Bay, LH drive Westfalia Tintop, see Gallery for pics.

Family commitments mean its a bay over a Caterham these days but I'm not complaining :D :D :D

Love the idea of a bus on A048'rs, would be good for the run down the strip at Santa Pod

Wah hey!! Hello mate - I just saw you over on KamperChat (thread about lowering!) I saw you mention hill climbing and sprinting a Caterham, and your location, and figured it must be you! :D Was just about to post on that thread and tell them what spoilers on the Porsche were for (cooling!!) and how low profile tyres worked (because they really haven't got a clue!!) but had to pop out - just got back in.
Good to see you here - have a look at our van

Had it way before the Caterham, and will never sell! Good move 'ol chap!

I have to say the thread about lowering on Kamperchat got a little out of hand with some people quoting utter rubbish, for a moment I thought I was on Blatchat all over again

Don't see you post much on BC these days :?: but then come to think of it neither do I, except to sell bits :(
