Hi all, I reckon this is a common problem but hopefully someone knows a fix!

My '71 Dormy's sliding door (RHD) keeps falling off when I open or close it. I've replaced the main hinge mechanism and the plastic block seems fine, now the door seems to pull out from the bottom roller.

Any ideas?

JB

I am assuming the bottom roller was re located in the in the track after the door fell off , !

Have you checked condition of the bottom roller ?

Hope this helps mate

I thought mine was hard to open and close until it fell off and bent the back corner of the door
In hindsight the PO was very careful with it when he showed me the door working.

Fortunately I managed to free-up a crusty spare lower bracket/roller.
It's the roller that keeps the bottom of the door in the slot under the floor.

not as annoying as picking up a freshly panted bus and THEN dropping the door! #backtothepaintshop...

looks like that might be my problem, thank you :)

Schofields do one that looks pretty good - their parts are generally top notch

You can replace just the roller if the stub on your bracket is still OK.
I guess the cost and hassle involved isn't much different from replacing the whole thing.

But I would have gone that route had I not acquired a whole used bracket for half the price of a new roller.

gonna give schofield's replacement bracket a try, their stuff is pretty good :)

That sounds like a good plan.
Try and get a couple of the rectangular shims as well. That's the only way to set the height of the front of the door.
Your current one may or not already have some and you may need more or less with the new bracket.

fitted the schofield part, looks good, just one shim seems right, though there is a bit of a dip in the bottom runner - i think it's a hole but I won't be doing anything about it!
