i have a 71, so the sliding track cover was held in with a retaining strip. no-one seems to reproduce these. so how do i fix in a replacement cover?

will the reproduction covers fit and hold into my "u" channel without the strip?

Assuming you mean the sealing strip then these can be bought. I got one recently for a 1970
(must be the same) at a show - could have been the VWH stall, or Kingfisher Kustoms maybe.

Good luck

no, there is a metal tensioning strip that holds the cover in place. no one seems to make them. what has everyone else done to replace this?

you can see the end of it in this pic:

there is a screw hole on the end and it has nbbly bits throughout it's legnth, when you tighten the screw it moved the rod alond and the nobbly bits hold the track cover secure.

Not see then for sale anywhere but my old van didn't have one and the cover never fell off. Also, there isn't one on the other side track cover.

if you want better pics I can take some tomorrow as my cover is off for hammering and paint at the moment
