Has anyone ever tried this stuff ?

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=130253531022&ssPageName=STRK:MEWA:IT&ih=003" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

I was thinking of trying it behind the interior panels in the rear.

I was hoping this may aid insulation as well as a bit of sound deadening.

Any thoughts welcome.

Thanks

I have read that the stuff you buy from B&Q (forget the name but some sort of foil backed sticky flashing) does the job just as well and is cheaper.
Never actually tried it yet, but I will probably give it a go later in the year.

Roof flashing

Is this stuff (the roof flashing) something that you use in small sections in the centre of panels to reduce vibration etc - or something that you would cover a surface with (for example the bulkhead at the back of the cabin, between the engine) and actually act as a barrier to reduce noise? - if you see what I mean!

The old grey matter wasnt working too well that evening

I have seen examples of both, also seen it used in conjunction with that silver quilted thermal insulation stuff thats used behind radiators etc.

I managed to pick up a very large sheet of bubble pack with aluminium foil backing. Do you stick it down with the aluminium down or up?

The brand name is flash band.

I've recently put this in my van and documented it in my resto thread if anyone is interested..

It has made a very noticeable difference in the sound the doors make when they shut, so I'm hoping I'll be able to tell the difference in noise reduction when I get my engine rebuilt and back in.

Excellent rebuild thread Prof 8)
I do hanker after a pick up at some point in the future.....

 - one day!
Gutted that I had neither the cash or the space to get that green wide bed SC that was for sale from Brighton a few months ago - I am sure that would have carried it!

On a totally seperate and entirely sacriligious note, I saw Profs. SC, with no side flaps on it, and thought...'um, with a nice big motor, that could make a hilarious drift car......'  'cos I had a go at the real thing a few days ago, and I love the idea of doing it in a weird vehicle, and not just another jap-mobile - totally non- VW, but see http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WRVG0w3GkSc

Take a look at Caroles old bus Beeglebus interior build.....

Nutters.

Keep for getting about that superb thread from Carole - thanks for the link!

im using the foil backed camper mats from Lidl, cheap, foil backed, closed cell and water proof, and about 1/3 inch thick.

Its top stuff for deadening.
