OK - I have now installed an extra level of confirmation in the registration process - hopefully this will reduce all the spam users - I am also going through clearing out all the old spam users so you will see the user total reducing for a while to give us a 'real' figure ...

delete all uses with 0 posts, make it a whole lot easier!

That seems a bit harsh to me - my sister signed up months ago but has only just started to post because she's just bought an Early - I think you could end up putting a lot of members off by doing that.

Still, it's not my forum...

;)

no im not going for the '0 post deletion'- many of those users are legit - the spam ones are pretty easy to spot in the list anyway ...

pleased to say the reg confirmation seems to be working-loads of spam registrations being rejected-will continue to gradually delete the old ones..

Justin & Mutley is a spammer i mean over 2000 posts that has to be all spam, i bet he is such a spammer he eats it on toast i also bet his van is made of spam (i just put that cause it rhymed)

can't you get rid of all users with 0 posts? i know some register to preserve thier name across all forums but posting once wouldnt kill them and it will make your job easier? it will certainly blow off all the spamers

sometimes its hard to know who is spam and who isnt... i dont envy your job as ive had to do it a few times before.
