split charge relay wiring

Hi Guys,
I'm going to be installing a leisure battery with a split charge relay. I seem to remember reading somewhere that the positive lead from the main battery to the relay and then to the leisure battery should have in line fuses installed.. is this right? If so, what size fuses should I use??
Also what ampage wire should I use..?

Depends on the amperage your alternator gives out. I run 75 amp fuse which allows full charge if the LB is depleted but will protect a direct short to earth.
