Mine happily sits at 70mph and wanders no more at this speed than any other other. If everything is as it should be you shouldn't need to worry.

I found my old bus drove arrow straight at 90mph but wandered at lower speeds.

Heritage are in the process of trying to get early bay boxes remanufactured (Well the worm and pin) and will be offering boxes on an exchange basis.

Are you still buying worn steering boxes for cores?

Please keep us updated, I would certainly be interested in this :)

As an update, I've been driving the van a lot more and have pretty much got used to the strange steering and they way you get blown about by lorrys etc

Chilled out a bit more and getting used to life in the slow lane :)

Over took two buses on the way back from BugJam lol although one of them was doing about 35 on the M1 in a blue and white EB

Mine seems fine as a rule but I have noticed it wander on certain stretches of road. I've put it down to the lorry wheelings & seem to think it wanders in & out of these...

I reckon this has a lot to do with it. In my modern car, driving in the inside lane can be scary due to the condition of the road surface.....try the middle lane, but not at 35 mph!

I followed this chap down one of our local roads on Monday
I recon he was leaving latitude festival which is local to us
Was a splitty and puffing out loads n loads of smoke
The other thing that stuck in my mind was how he couldn't keep traveling in a straight line he was weaving back n forth quite badly

I know these old vws can need over correcting but this was something else

Did you use that to justify caining it everywhere

It is all down to wear, end of. Steering boxes are slightly vague compared to racks but if in good condition are fine to drive with. Example: I drive a 1983 Volvo F10 hgv for someone from time to time and it wanders a bit, however at my place of work we have a 2009 Volvo FM12 which is the modern equalivant but has the same ZF steering box and it drives lovely.

Things get old & things wear.
