or indeed any Hypoid rated oil pop along to your local motor factors you want a hypoid or EP oil

as the steering box has a hypoid cut the oil pressure is quite high under load conditions so do not pack with grease as certain "refurbishers" do and dont overfill

Thanks for that Araon-good link-I guess 5 litres will last me a while!
Off to see if Gand S stock it.

I got a recon box from Megabug and they said it doesn't use oil they just packed it with greese.

Ahem.....see my above.....grease will temporarily remove the sloppyness.....untill its blown through the seals, Hypoid gear cuts allow for a quieter and more complete contact of driving faces hence the huge increase in pressure under load.....

Grease is used to pack the workings of a steering box or gearbox to reduce noise and play until the cheque has cleared....

Cheers for that, not exactly what I wanted to be told.

So I should look to get some oil and put it in?

run it as it is for now see how you get on just make a note to stick your head under there occassionally......
