I can't be the only one who has this issue and was wondering what you guys have done to fix it. The original paint on the column has worn away and when going around corners the keys in the ignition that are dangling against the column are causing a short and sounding the horn/hooter. Insulation tape will not look great so don't want that as a fix. Does normal spray paint have insulation properties? I may try some wax as I think that may work?

I wrapped the top part of my column in a piece of black vinyl. A4 size sheet of eBay will do it.

Looks almost invisible, but fairly neat.

Took me bloody ages to figure out what was causing the problem!
