Hi

Just bought a reasonable stero from Halfords, got all the connections, everythings there, hooks up nice - just replacing the one the previous owner kindly removed before I got my hands on it.......but no joy! It wont work. Any ideas?

Hi,

When you say won't work - can you be more specific:

Does it power up?
Does it say it's playing media?
I assume no sound from speakers?
How was it wired in - just into an ISO fitting that was already there?

Also if you have an amp - may be if the PO removed the stereo it was going via an amp and that was also removed....? a possibility

Sorry, yes it simply wont power up. Its connected via the block-kit that was all ready there.

This might sound obvious - but do the coloured wires on your new stereo correspond with the colours on the existing block? Have you checked that you've got power to the existing block? Has the fuse in the back of your new stereo blown?

More details please...

;)

Sometime this is caused by the lack of 0V connection. In the past people have relied on the shield of the aerial to provide the 0V path which is not good ( the shield is not designed for that sort of current).
