I've got a small idea that i may have a sticking or burnt out valve on either cylinders 1 & 2. I've just fitted a nos set of weber 40's and it won't idle, has bad flat spots and keeps backfiring through the carb that feeds those cylinders. I've checked/adjusted everything, points, plugs, ignition timing, valves and gone over the carbs with a fine tooth comb. gonna do a compression test tomorrow just wondered what pearls of wisdom you lot have on this situation.

Cheers

Karl

Sure you haven't got an air leak on between the carbs/manifolds/head?

You double checked with WD40?

Sorry I can't be more help.

I know the test you mean, yeah i've done that. Don't worry mate, all advice welcome

if it ran fine before the carb change then its the carbs ,either air leak or wrong jets or wrongly set up ,what size engine and jets are you using ,whats the dizzy ,fuel pump pressure ,floats set ....could be any thing really
