As title, is anyone running stock wide 5 rims on later bus with late VW discs and 112>205 adaptors????

Will this work or do you need a 14" CSP kit if you want discs on crossover bay but want the classic 5*205 PCD wheel

Thanks, Matt

Im running red9 with 5x112 discs and wide5 adaptors with early steels, the calliper will need modifying with an angle grinder but it can be done

Creation, did you have to take much off the caliper? I've got a 20mm spacer on at the moment and with the bolts done up the wheel does not move for toffee!

Just a thought but does anyone know what the offset difference is between 71/72 discs and late 73 on discs.

Whistler, can you tell me what size spanner fit on the caliber retaining bolts on your bus (early and late disc set ups use different size bolts so this is the simplest way to check which set up you have)

Will do Matt, won't be until this evening though.

EDIT: couldn't wait, they're a 19!

I`m running the later discs on my 68 with adapters and Flat four 5 spoke wheels. I did`nt have to clearance the calipers at all.

Browsing the Slamwerks website this morning and looking at the dropped spindles they state that you can run any size wheel including 14" so I will have a look around and see if I can find the difference on the 70/72 and 73 on discs.

In that case I bet if you had 25mm (as Creation Blue 20mm plus the difference between the offsets) if would work.

Still, 20mm is ok, 25mm?

Creation blue - i love the look of those wheels on your van - are the calipers from a late bay or an early? Would you mind letting me know your front suspension setup - eg beam, spindles, tyre size, and adaptor width?

Cheers, Mike

I have stripped my adaptors and it appears there is a spacer in there too (the rusty one on the right, the shiny one is the Porsche)

I'll be taking the other side apart soon so i will measure the distance from the disk face to the adaptor face............

Hi Mike, the beam is a Red9 wishbone unit that replaces the original beam. The callipers are late bay with wide5 adaptors, the wheels standard 14" steels with 185/75/14 Marshall whitewall tyres. The beam width with adaptors is around 10mm narrower than standard (it could be 5mm I cant remember)

Ive got wide 5 crows feet on late bay disk brakes using an adapter 8)

Are people running the 70/72 or the 73+ discs who have managed to do this?

Seems to be more common than I originally thought, so why on earth did it not work for me!

Could it be that the discs we have aren't actually specifically late bay ones?

I'm running 73 > discs, 205 adaptors and 356 replica rims, no spacers, slight amount shaved off caliper to clear the adaptor.

If you convert from drum to disc and keep the same master cyinder you need to take the oneway check valves out, or else the pads will drag on the discs.
