swapping speedo needle?

i have a 68 only speedo but with a broken needle.i can not see how the needle is held on? can anybody help please.

it is ONLY :!: pushed on but very difficult to get off,also the spring tension is preloaded get it wrong and speedo will be out,recomend someone like speedy cables who can rebuild and callibrate (used them a long time ago dont know if still ok)

is it just the needle thats push onto the silver bit? or the silver bit thats just push onto the rod?
 
needle pushes on to shaft,late spedo same just layout and trim ect differant,have swoped needle on late 72?ish one.

thanks for all the help,think i'll leave it for a expert before i ruin another clock.
 
needle pulls off,white needle and the silver disk bit underneath is all one unit.
when i took my speedo apart i noticed that there is a circular drum behind the number cogs
that controls the needle, take a pair of small long nosed pliers or tweezers and grip the drum
to stop it spinning. then gently pull/twist the needle up and bobs your uncle.
