Has any one used this service by Type 2 Detectives..I understand that they cut and turn as opposed to fit adjusters. your comments please.

They're quite local to me and I've heard nothing but good things about them - they'll lower it via whatever method you dictate I think!

Send a PM to 68only on here, he's your man!!

I've just seen someone advertising a front and rear lowering service for £160.00 on ebay, supposed to be a vw specialist too

For that price i bet they just let the tyres down.

That £160 lowering service has come up a couple of times recently. There's rumours it's to do with the Old Volks Home, in which case you'd be taking your life in your own hands.

Obviously though it could be possible it's totally unrelated, and just a genuine bargain.

Note to self - read threads more carefully before jumping in with both feet!

Justin at Wagon works used to do cheap lowering. I am not sure how he does it, he gets some parts made. It could be him that is advertising cheap, He is in Surrey. I have driven a couple of his lowering jobs & they drive fine...
That price would be front only I think. I recall a figure of £300 front & rear.

Normally to lower front & rear with adjusters it is around £500.

Justin did mine a couple of years ago, I,ve had no probs what so ever & ride fully loaded with awning, beer, 3 monkey bikes & 1 passenger.
I paid about £250 back then, he currently charges abot £325 but for November has been advertising for £275.

Yeah, Justin's standard price is £300. I think on VZi he said he was discounting it to £265 for the whole of November though.

T2d dont cut and turn, they fit one adjuster in one front beam and drop it so the springs fight against eachother thus uprating the spring in affect. this is perfectly good and nice riding way to take around 4" out of the standard supsension... i should think they also take the rear down one outer spline so it's sits level. i'm not sure on the price.

of course 4" basically just takes the gap from between the tyre and arch, if you want to give it a proper tap with the lowering stick and still be safe with a nice ride your going to have to dig a lot deeper that £160,, £350, £500 or even £1000...

Why would you want to spoil what VW did

Don't lower, just sort everything out and enjoy the ride - can even llok over most cars
and see what's going on ahead...............

My new beam will be a standard one as I think this is the best compromise - start the calling

I spoke to that £160 ebay guy. To be honest he didnt fill me with confidence. The price includes steam cleaning the front beam, cutting and turning it and droping the rear a spline or 2.

Had my bay dropped by T2D a couple of months ago. They also fitted another steering box & shocks all around. The ride is excellent, no knocking & bashing that you would normally expect from a lowered vehicle. Even the Mrs is happy with it :D I'd been threatened with death or worse if it turned out like are last bug
Pop in or give them a ring, friendly service & quality work :D

you get what you pay for and £160 seems a bit too cheap :? .

I wish we had a lowering service over here like t2d. ill probably have to get the ferry over

I concure with Tim having now slammed 4 earlies hard Ive done it 4 my mates If i started charging it wudnt be cheap. When i slammed my bus the only way to get the balljoints out was by heating the arms to a cherry red and using a 20 ton press...Theyed only been in there from new

My engineer guy said he'd kill me if i ever brought some like that to him again

REMEMBER You get what you pay for ........Ever seen a bay go across 3 lanes of a motorway hit the crash barrier and bounch back BECAUSE 1 of the ball joints had Snapped

I HAVE and it wasnt pretty

gadget that sounds like a scary experience!, did you fit long travel joints? would you need to do this as a matter of fact with a +4 inch drop?
