Hi all I'm just renewing all my tank rubbers and I've noticed a very small patch of very light rust (100mm2 most of the paint is still there it's like pin prick rust) around the strainer the rest of the tank is like new so would you leave it until it gets worse ( there is no sign of any **** in my filter) or would you use a tank liner if so which one and is it easy to do.

Thanks phil

so the rust is on the outside? I sanded, primed and then used enamel on my tank and it came up really nice (see thread below), you could just tackle a small area. I fi understand you right i think your problem is the bit exposed to the underside so some underseal might be a good idea one you've put it back in.

Regarding lining - 'Frosts' seem like the best place to get it. I used a marine cleaner to take the gunk out the tank, but decided not to attempt to line it. Having sloshed the cleaner around i'm pretty sure I made the right call - there are a lot of baffles inside and i wasn't sure I would have got good coverage with a liner paint - and if you dont get good coverage then have you got poor adhesion and then do you have bits floating around after a couple of years??????..... maybe...

I used a product called slosh, you can get a kit too. I used this as por15 comes in small tins and you need a few to get the coverage. Slosh in the large tin can do a bus tank easily. I took my time and it took a week to do it all properly and it was in october. As it is a resin warm temp help it go off quicker so you could do it in 3-4 days as the temp is rising now.
