Tappets, Timing, Points....what order?

Is there a specific order the regular in which to check/maintain Tappets, Points and Timing should be performed? Also, have I missed any related checks?

Tappets first - engine must be stone cold, then do points (pref with a dwell meter) then timing. I would drive the bus between each adjustment just to check if there is any improvement/ decline in performance - if you do all three and get a problem it's harder to work out what went wrong !
