Ok so now tax disks are dead, what are you all going to put in your tax disk holders?

Ive taken mine straight out .... hate 'em. :)

Got my first tax disc from the DVLA in the post today

It's dated for 31/7 and was perforated.

Will keep it with my documents as no need to put it on the bus.

Poor Magoo whos business was tax disc holders.

A little off topic:

Word of caution when registering your California bus, YOU WILL NOT RECEIVE YOUR CA TITLE BACK!

Was a sad and upsetting surprise not to receive it and after a long phone call I will not get it either.
Apparently CA and the UK have a reciprocal agreement where the original documents get sent back to the place of origin.
This is true for some other US states as well.

Now I don't have proof of ownership anymore...

All the best.

Andy

Repro vintage ones for all my old vehicles and removing the one from my modern car :D

This company will do all your vehicle details as well as area postage stamp..

Yep - also have a repro 1969 one foe mine showing month of first registered and showing Birmingham as this is where it was registered here after arriving from Cal. 8)

Liking the look of these. Stupid question but what do you put as the vehicle type ?

Cheers Andy! Got plenty of new products on the go.-.gone a bit upmarket.

I will drive about with an out of date tax disc holder until I find a 4 month 1970 Volkswagen original tax disc. There is some kid with 12,000 of them, I might tempt with with a blank unused last tax disc ever.

My bus was built in May 1970, but then exported to San Fransisco so it's not an exact tax disc, you can make the tax disc for any date you want, I just got mine for 6 month after it was born!

They should be 4 months, I linked to the source before on a similar thread, but can't remember when it changed to six months off hand.

edit: 6 month licence was introduced in 1987 and the 4 month licence was 1961 to 1987. But only poor people had four month discs. :)

Yeah, I've just bought a replica for my '71 and it should be either 4 or 12 months so I've gone for 12 but ran it from Jan to Dec as I wanted a '71 disc that expired in '71 also,

My last tax disk expired on 31 August therefore I now have a paper one valid till next August....
Does this mean I can dump it or do you need to keep paper ones onboard until they expire?

You can dump them, no longer needed.
