.....there is a certain irony in buying a tax free vehicle, then paying real money for a dummy tax disk !

My last tax disk expired on 31 August therefore I now have a paper one valid till next August....
Does this mean I can dump it or do you need to keep paper ones onboard until they expire?

You don't need to display it, but keep it safe; collectors/ velologists reckon those temporary tax discs will be worth money....the DVLA ran out of perforated paper before they were destroyed on the 1st September.
