Another bit of trivia for you to chew on.
There is a beetle down here somewhere that I have seen at shows that is a 197? model. It has never been registered and has about 110km on the odo. Those Ks were racked up being pushed from one part of a showroom to another over the years. It is now in private hands, I can't remember much about it except it is martini olive colour.
It is only a beetle after all eh?

its a bummer it wasnt registered as it would need an sva now, im thinking it would probably need a cat and all that rubish now aswell, could be wrong.

Yes its on Ebay - looks like someone trying to turn a quick profit ??

When I first enquired about it, when Luke at Terrys Beetle Services had it, he was asking £14k for it.

It'll be interesting watching the last hour or two of the auction. :)

I know it's not an early bay, but I thought you might want to see some pics of the van, which I took at the Volksworld show yesterday. :)

The eBay advert states:

"This vehicle is, of course, left hand drive which just adds to its overall magical feel when you get behind the wheel, instantly becoming obvious why most type 2 purists prefer Lhd vehicles. After all, for VW, right hand drive was an after thought."

What a load of crap - why do LHD vans generally sell for this than RHD in the UK???!

;)

I am really not a fan of LHD in the UK, especially if youve got a panel, well difficult to sort out on motorways

Probably my rubbish driving though!

I had no experience of LHD when I bought my Kombi, but funnily enough I've taken to it very easily. I did find that for the first few trips I kept groping for the petrol stirrer with my left hand!
I'm quite pleased I've taken to left hooking, 'cos I've got the bait out hoping to catch a nice rustfree deluxe at some stage, so chances are it'll be a Californian jobby. :D

I agree! That's just ******** seller crap! But anyhow, which entusiast is really going to take such a "car dealer" for real? I mean come on! This hobby is about building nice rides and meeting great people, not to earn as much as possible! It must be as worthless driving a LHD in UK as a RHD over here. It makes you special perhaps, but you'd need a passenger to be shure to make it.
