Thermostat in or out

Hi Yall
Do i need to fit the thermostat to my 1600 TP, "some say yes" "some say no", which one is right

This is one of the biggest talking points on VW aircooled,if you run a stock 1600 twinport then in ,is my advice.Not the new style type thou.

My personal view is yes but be sure to use the earlier type of thermostat, as Mega says.

This fails 'safe' whereas if the later one fails it can cook your engine.

Yes, fit it. Every time. Especially if you drive your bus in almost any temperatures seen in the UK :lol:
