Tin top conversion alternative?

Hi guys been looking at my devon roof over the weekend, seems its going to be alot of work to repair it.
was just wondering if any of you guys have used an alternative to a doner tin top, looking at it i cant see why i couldnt have a sheet of steel rolled to the same former as the roof and weld the insert in, failing that has anyone ever used perpex or am i just going mad

I've got a Riviera Fibreglass Sliding Roof but if you want it clear use Lexan not Perspex.

i bought one of those riveria roofs :shock: the quality was so shocking i sacked it off and did a full roof swap. how did you get on with yours.

as for your devon mate. dont do the clear panel thing. just imagine it in the hot weather. you would be best getting someone to do a proper roof swap through the spot welds or joggling a patch in.

i was stuck for what to do since i didnt fancy keeping my pop top, so went down the fold back fabric route from paris beetles, not seen it on the van yet but when i got it it looked really good quality, and sparky says his doesnt leak :msn4:

As I mentioned earlier don't fit perspex. It sags in the hot sun and turns the van into a greenhouse, and fills with water when it rains.....
