Probably should never have sold my 70 westy  but I wanted a splitty at the time!!!! Now looking for another early bay.
my list of preferences are;

Must be tintop.

upto 1970, although would consider a 71 if it has early rear arches (i think occasionaly they do if early enough in the year?), but definately no 72 crossovers.

Camping interior, preferably westy. Would consider a nice bus though and put my own interior in.

Good original paint or decent respray in period VW colours - no fancy modern paint schemes.

No total projects, don't mind a bit of work, but want to get use out of it this summer. So MOT'd and registered prefered.

It would be nice If it was moderately lowered and have a disk kit fitted!!!, but i'd do that myself if not.

Budget is fairly healthy, but not bottomless

My van might be up for grabs soon, I bought another Syncro today.

It is going to get a DK gearbox conversion tomorrow too.

Hi,

We're going the other way for better or worse...we have a very nice OG paint and interior 70/71 pastel white Poptop Cali Westy bay (original canvas, curtains, mustard seats, everything plus OG extras) and have bought a 65 split to restore, which is costing more than we thought...plus cant find an easy way of mounting all the surfboards ontop with the family inside, hence the splitty with roofracks as the new plan. We may live to regret from what i've heard.

It's MOT'd, tax exempt, stock height, stock everything, running a strong 1600, and has never given us
a single concern. We use it all the time, does 28-30 the gallon, and very frugal on oil. It wont be cheap but it wont be silly dealer money either. However, since it's stock height with a poptop, garage height may be a problem? Could always be lowered. It's not a concours show-pony bus, but in very good condition, and never been welded, no filler, no advisories.

Being a Cali import is has servo-assisted disc brakes, so stops like a modern van.

If interested please email me at: [email protected]

We will be putting it up for sale shortly, sicne the splitty goes in for major welding next week.

Regards,

Ben

Pete and Ben,

Thanks for the replys, both very nice, but having thought more, i've decided it's only a tintop that will do it for me (original post now edited). I can't fit a poptop in the garage and don't want to do the ragtop thing.

Thanks
Chris

It's not the 20grand bus is it   afraid my budget isn't that healthy

Out of interest what's the timescale for shipping one over?

no its far from that. I`d anticipate a price of £8k on the road fully serviced or 6 as is but you need to call me as i rarely post my vehicles up for sale now due to a customer list. This is a new bus and as i`m not working til tomorrow i will not be letting anyone know( sheez i`m addicted aren`t i? i can`t even take a day off..i`m doing it now)this is a special bus and you`ll only find out how special by calling me ;) 07778995430

Thanks for that Scott, i look forward to seeing the pics ;)

In the mean time, does anyone else have anything of interest?? I'd consider the moon on a stick if that's any easier to get hold of

I was approached in Holland at the weekend by a guy with a very large photo album showing the bare metal resto of a 1970 tintop. Its a kombi inside and stock hight but looks a very good job. He was after 7k or 8k delivered but i expect he would be flexible on price. Its a RHD from sweden (thats where the bus is) that is why he wants it sold in the UK.
Will look for his number and email if your interested.

I would definately be interested if it was over here, but not sure i want to be fetching one over from Sweden myself though.......

I may be being too picky, there are a few possibilities out there already, notably the speedmaster bus, Scotts RHD delux(when we get pictures) and even perhaps Grahams yellow one once he's restored it. There's a couple of cheaper options to think about too. Don't know why though, but nothing yet has made me want to rush out for a viewing  The speedmaster i like a lot, but is a bit more than i wanted to spend....

mine will be at stanford hall if you want to look?? under going a hit with the lowering stick at the moment and adding deluxe trim with polished empi's, but it does have later rear arches  but nice interior , with some speakers, but nice original condition ;)£7k

Hi

Happy to discuss in more detail what you want from your bus and build the Sierra Yellow bus to suit exactly what you are looking for, if that doesn't take your fancy I've got a Delta Green deluxe due in the next couple of weeks that may interest you, pictures aren't great at the moment but I think once its had a polish it will look like a different bus.

Picked up a really nice Westy Interior last week so its there waiting to go into a customers bus, feel free to drop me a line to have a chat or give me a call,
