looking to buy some heads (2nd hand), I am collecting parts for a engine build that may or may not happen.

So

Standard VW heads are 35.5 inlet, 32x8 exhaust can these be machined to larger valve sizes? Or should I just buy the larger valve VW Mexico ones 39 x 32 as it is cheaper than machining? If I go 1776 they would have to go to the machine shop anyway :?

..........or just looking at new prices the Empi the 40 x 35 (cut for 1776) ones are only £30-£50 more each than the 39 x 32's 1600 ones :? :? :?

Does the smaller valve size choke a 1776?

What will be easiest to get and give a good balanced engine?

Go for CB's 044 heads with 40 inlets and 35.5 outlets. You can choose them cut for 1776 b&p. Why buy inferior heads when you'll only regret it and want to upgrade later anyway? Personally I'd go for their CNC cut heads, but that's more extra cash.

I probably wouldn't go for bigger inlet and outlets as you might run into air/fuel vapourisation problems.

:)

cheers for that :party0021:

fate said :character0066: that just after I read your message, I went on vzi and a pair were for sale only used for 1hr :cool0008: ..........contacted the guy and found out where he was etc.....
