Hi,
I want to try and clean the grime/ fungal growth off my cab seats and sun visors as I can't afford new at the moment. The sun visors also have some paint on them from when it was resprayed (2pak) so may not be possible to clean that but would like to clean the rest and see what they look like.
Can anyone recommend any products eg 3M/ Trinny & Susannah style that could do the trick??
cheers

When Mike F on here came to my w/shop to have his rear cushions fitted we tried several ways of cleaning the years of gunk on the front seats.
Only stuff that really cleaned them was draper ink & gum remover.......spray a small area (5in x 5in) work the foam into the vinyl to loosen the dirt , wipe off the gunk with a warm soapy sponge/cloth. had a piccy of the seat part done to show how dirty/clean they looked but can't find it

link only to show what can looks like, should be able to get it in usual diy shops

If you are talking about the vinyl then using something like Autosmart g101 multi purpose cleaner will work a treat. Really effective and useful cleaner to have in the garage for a whole range of tasks.

Buy from local Autosmart reps in 5 litres containers , or can be found on ebay sometimes, but never know if its been diluted!

i used sugar soap on really bad nicotine stains and got brilliant results. The visors came us a treat. Thought id give it a go after seeing on some telly show the missus was watching. You can get it cheap in B&Q and its a luminous yellow colour.

Yes, I use it a lot. I also buy the powder so you can mix it up stronger .... wear gloves though!

Trade secret, but here goes.....*** lighter fluid or nail polish remover....... if all else fails try cilliet bang.

Sorry, I now have this image in my mind of Mike, scrubbing brush in hand, wearing pink marigolds decorated with fur cuffs as on the telly show 'How clean is your house'!!!! :D Sorry mate!

I used Fairy (oo-er) liquid in HOT water with a nailbrush on all the seats, panels and westy furniture. Took a while but worked a treat.

I just make my own mixture of detergents, quite frankly I don’t trust in those top shop detergents I think they are all fake, I just mix borax with cornmeal and that removes the stains and prevents mold growth. But will it work for upholstery too? Any carpet cleaning agency from London to help me out?

This works really well, use a nail brush to get the grime out of the weave. do smallish sections, maybe a 1/4 of the seat then wipe of with damp cloth. I was told by and timmer to use this.
Be careful with anything with acetone or xylene in it.
