hi,does anyone know if a 1302s gearbox will fit a 69 bay thanks

AT, AS, 3.88 ratio boxes are selling for £200-300 ( i even saw one sell at £400 with short axles) on ebay... if you can find one buy it! Tims kit is £295 i think and Faux has one installed on his bus. Sounds like a good alternative to the 2L 6 rib box, too hard to find and even more expensive. Im hoping to buy the kit soon too.

Hi Johnny - I haven't fitted mine yet.... not had the time. But EgoTripin helped Tim fit one to his bus! He is using a 1302 box, which are cheaper and easier to find, and says he has really noticed the difference.

Jon, are the 1302 boxes 4.1 ratio? or the same as the 's'? as i know where there are several 1302 boxes lying in a shed  i just didnt bother with them as i thought they were a different ratio?

I am no expert by any stretch but as far as I am aware Bays came with 5.3 or 4.8 final drive.

A 1303s box is a 3.8 final drive and a 1302 is 4.1 final drive.

Having thought about this a lot lately the 4.1 of a 1302 is a massive improvement on the 5.3 and still much better than the 4.8. Also a bay with camping interior is pretty heavy so the 3.8 of a 1303s may mean a struggle up hills etc. Tim (Monkey spinner) fitted a 1303s box to his but he runs 175/55/15s on the rear of his, where as Steve (Egotrippin) has fitted the 1302 box and I think he has retained the 185/60/15s and is fine up hills etc.

I have a 1303s box but I am contemplating looking for a 1302 box.

I hope this helps
