Hello,

What is the difference between early and late bay rear hub carriers?

http://www.customandcommercial.com/...uine_vw_rear_hub_carriers_8fslash70-79_12801/

Can I use late bay rear hub carriers if I change all other parts from early bay? (wheel bearings, backing plates, brakes and so on)

I will convert my brakes from 5*122 to 5*130 bolt pattern. I am using early bay CSP drums with Porsche bolt pattern.

Thanks in advance,
Pete

There's not a fat lot of difference, and indeed the part numbers are the same. However the internal bore is slightly different- The earlier carriers have a slightly bigger hole. I had mine machined out from memory, but couldn't tell you how much :-(

OK, thanks for information.

Mine Westfalia is -71. Can I just change axle tubes with spacer ring when I am using late bay rear hub carriers to fit early bay rear drums (and other braking parts from early)

Pete
