I am looking for an early bay, must be rhd only, full camping interior, pop roof with beds, must be excellent condition, cash waiting. please email me with what you have including pics. thanks

the only people supplying rhd earlybay westys that i know of are http://www.vwclassics.co.uk" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; give us a call. Rhd westys were only made in south africa. :!:

Scotty

Nothing like a bit of self promotion eh

LHD isn't that bad. I'd rather have It to a restored uk vehicle. You can't beat a nice 40 year sun kissed California vehicle. Look at both, see what you get for your money both graham and Scott sound guys with honest vehicles

amazing the amount of volks that want a earlybay rhd westy and think its avaliable off the shelf....i don`t mean to be rude but like i said before if you want a rhd "earlybay" westy then there is only one option and they are well hard to find/rocking horse doo doo

Scott, the guy doesnt actually mention westy just that he wants a RHD with camping interior, though a right hooker SO67R would be top of my want list 8) 8) 8)

And uber dont be so harsh on the uk restored busses, some of the resto jobs on here are top notch. Remember sun kissed Cali busses stop being two things when they get here.
Californian and sun kissed

If your gonna insist on RHD its got to be an SA or Ozzy bus, restored UK or if your very lucky an unrestored pampered and garaged UK bus, choose wisely.

Lastly, before you dismiss them totally, try driving a lefty, you might be pleasantly surprised.

I didnt think I was being harsh. Just honest that no matter how much you spend on a Uk van there is always one but you cant get to that's had 40 years of bad weather on it compared to a US van. Hence a warmer climate van is like a 10 year old UK van would have been. Basically warmer climate vans have aged better. Hence a better starting point if you dont mind the LHD bit.

Unless you are really lucky and find a low mileage or barn find UK van that has been tucked away off the UK roads for a few years.

If your after a uk barnfind (well stored) Danbury XO then drop me a line its a tintop though, low mileage mint interior...

Uber, I wasnt calling you harsh with any seriousness, you are absolutely right about the difference between a bus thats been here all its life and a dry import, I was just trying to stick up for some of the restos done by earlybayers.
Sadly many right hookers will never reach those standards and driving on the left is a small sacrifice when it comes to owning a solid bus.

Non taken. And I also wasn't putting down anybodies resto or quality of work. It just having spent 23 years welding UK weathered vehicles I have seen the light with how much better a US or shall we say warm climate vehicle can be and hence launch a very good basis for a first class vehicle. Considering cost time and all that. So really just passing that on to any newbie. Every time I work ok my US bus it make me smile. Recently updated all suspension and brakes not one seized bolt. My mate helped me who's a mechanic he's could not believe it's 41 years old

Guys, dont take me for a nob. Ive spent 40k on restoring my splitty. the wife wont drive a lhd and to be honest id rather she didnt. I want an early sorted bay as they look the nuts and want a rhd so she can drive it and take the kids out, that was the idea!!.

Hi

I don't think anyone is suggesting you are a nob, we are a friendly bunch on this site but I think your'e not the first recently to make your request you did in your original post.

I think the guys are trying to suggest that you might struggle finding what you are looking for in RHD as they are few and far between whether its a Dormobile, Danbury or a Westfalia, in the condition you are looking for and for sale. If such a beast exists most owners will want to hold onto them as they are getting rarer.

Have you thought about exactly which camper you are looking for as they all have the plus & minus points and this may steer you in the direction of one particular conversion enabling you to narrow your search.

The westys have a loyal following but as Scott pointed out there was never a campmobile version sold in the UK for a RHD bus and this is the most popular conversion, the most likely source for one of this 'type' is South Africa where the buses are generally rust free but tend to command a premium as they know what they have got, but expect to pay in the order of about £14k + for one shipped over here if its in great condition.

Dormobiles & Danburys tended to be the ones sold in the UK but its highly unlikely that any ones from the UK will be in a rust free condition unless they have had a lot of restoration work done to them so again you will be looking at £12-£13K + again.

Hope this helps and hope you continue to post on the forum,
