Weather proofing

Having just imported a '71 westy from California I want to do what I can to keep
it rust free, any tips or advice for sealing the chassis?

Spray it with waxoyl every summer. (sprays a lot easier if its warm, you can even mix in a little used engine oil) Make sure its been dry for a while so your not sealing any moisture in.

And avoid the brush on "underbody seal with added waxoyl" like the plague.

Do I spray waxoyl into the chassis rails and behind the belly pans too?

Yeah go nuts with it. Ideally get the belly pans off if they are bolt on.

Just avoid the engine and gearbox.
