Guys,

Just been given some original weber 40 idf carbs. I've just bought a set of weber 34 ICTs however I'm now thinking I should fit the 40 IDF's instead

I'm running a twin port 1641 with a scat c25 cam, bigger valves

What the general opinion?

i reckon they would run ok with 28 chokes, emulsions and jets to suit..
Can be bloody expensive getting new chokes and all that though and a rebuild kit your possibly looking at £100-200 depending what you need to replace.Do you know what they've got in them?

It will run fine with small chokes as mentioned could be a tiny bit slow on pickup I'd put them on !!!!

Given?

Jammy git :p

28 mm vents
115 main jets
50 idle jets
F11 emulsion tubes
180 air correctors

This set up will make a 1600 run sweet with twin 40's ;)

As Karlos said above, i have the exact jet sizes and chokes in my webers now.... but i have gone to 1776
Perhaps we could do a deal as i need to change to suit my new engine.
what do you think?
Regards Bob

I ran 40's on a 1679 in a bug a while back, it was over carbed to be honest, tho it ran fine. Id go with the 34's, keep the 40's for another engine, or give them to me ;-)

Thanks guys, I've decided to go for the 34ict with the cb performance linkage

However, I have put them on eBay, they are in great original condition, just need a very good clean if anyone is interested
