OK I hope you don't mind but as part of my new business venture we are putting out some feelers to see whether there is a demand for reproducing Westfalia Bed Hinges in both 3/4 and full width format, we have the advantage that we have both of these one our buses to be able to take drawings off etc and get them re manufactured.

But my question is, is there a demand and what are people willing to pay for a set of hinges?

In addition we have looked at the possibility of remaking Westy interiors both in 'Campmobile' format and 'Continental' format as we also have a complete set of cabinets to work from, we would also be looking at offering roof and trim kits to match in the right material. We would plan to offer these in a 'pick & mix' format so you could pick just the components you want so full width bed from a conti interior with the buddy seat & coolbox sink unit from a Campmobile etc etc,

Again is there a demand out there for remade Westfalia interiors to the original pattern and what would people pay for these?

Thoughts and views please

just thinking the same.....

if you could get kits for pop top and tin tops complied cut and prepped with ali channels etc....

must be a mark up there for the simplicity of a one stop shop...

But thats not all thats hiding at the moment

I'll post some of our other projects up once I get a chance

With regards to the Conti Roof Bed I would need to get hold of one to copy, I think Scott has one

Interested if you can produce an easy to fit plywood roof at the right price, my roof lining is dirty, ripped and think is was fitted by a blind person (no offence to any blind people reading this ;) )

Complete roof bunk i would be interested in, :?: as for interiors i would love to know from anyone who builds interiors for resale,i tinkered with this a a year of so ago and was lucky to break even after materials and labour was totalled up, had more than enough interest just couldnt make it pay :? give it a go and see what happens i say :)

I am currently looking for hinges so I can do my own thing so would be up for a set of 3/4 ones. Sucking eggs and all that, dont forget LHD and RHD 3/4 are of course different units and hinges.
Last year there was group of young orientals trading at a few shows, had lots of camping stuff that looked very similar to JK products. They also had hinges similar to westy ones complete with plans to build a RnR type bed that looked in the drawing like a westy. Don't know if it was any good, but was about £50 ! At the time was considering re-manufacturing hinges and selling them with plans but no way was I going to match that price!

Have just seen your reply to my 'wanted' ad Graham. about to send you a pm.

Hi!

Those Chinese folk were at the Bus Stopover last year, i bought a fan off them, they now have a web site up and running:

http://www.cool-out.co.uk/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Though cant find what you mention on there, maybe worth contacting them?

Cheers!

Alistair

I found one of their flyers and checked out the website, must say the range of products has dwindled to say the least! And as you say, nothing like the bed/hinges I mentioned.
The Busstopover, top event, am hoping to get again this year.

I wouldn't mind changing the cabinet behind my drivers seat for something a little less intrusive,
but a buddy seat doesn't give enough storage, so yeah - I'm interested. :D
