hi im a newbie and i was hoping someone could tell me what beam my 68 bay has and the most cost effective way of lowering it..naturally safety is of the upmost importance as it's for my family but i don't want to be sold parts that it doesn't really need to achieve the desired look..I should probably mention that im after a good drop..many thanks too all..jamie

Being an early bus you could go for a King and Link pin set up as per split screen buses , I have this on my 69 panel van that has same type beam as yours , Coupled with dropped spindles its down about 7-8 inches on stock height , For a slightly less drastic drop you could go for just a set of dropped spindles at either 3.5" or 5.5"

The question is how much of a drop are you after , the lower you go the more it is

Now this is one statement I have difficulty in consolodatiting with safe suspension manipulation....

theres a whole world between cheap and top end engineered solutions.....

Grazy puts forward the KnL great but with the initial cost of the beam then the "lowering" its not particularly cheap, obviously it comes down to what kind of drop you expect to achieve.....

The starting block will be the ultimate budget you have to play with, from this you can narrow your options.

Now to answer your original Q you have a ball joint early bolt pattern bay beam.

i`ve just bought a 68 panel van - having never owned a van before (!) i`m not sure whether it is ball joint or king link pin - which would it be?

i`d like to drop it (but not right on the floor) and retain ride quality - the 3.5 / 5.5 inch dropped spindles - are these for king link pin or ball joint and where sells them?

cheers,
mike

As above if its stock it will be fitted with a ball joint, T2d if you want a bolt on drop, retain the stock feel as the geometry is little affected, the structure of the spindle remains in tact as they arent cut and welded they flip the ball joint

cheers - i`ll have to give them a bell - i`ve heard good things about slamwerks too but they only appear to do 4 inch narrowed beams which is a bit too narrow for me but will give them a ring too. :)
