So I'm looking at running a single carb but using it like a twin carb system

I've been looking at this kit from Chirco but wanted to know what the best carb would be. I'm torn between a weber and a dellorto

Any thoughts?

Much the same, dellortos are supposed to have better idle circuits and part throttle response, more important is matching the right carb, chokes and jet size to your application. So what engine spec and size, max usable RPM and is it for general driving or flat out racing?
Do you want max top end power or low down torque?

Thanks for the advice.

I'm building a 1641 twin port, I'm also looking at a vacuum distributor rather than a 009.

I'm just looking to use it for every day driving, no racing planned. Just want a little more power than stock

I asked some guys on the samba the same question and they have all said don't use the system I'm proposed, better to run twin carbs but I know that's a pain to set up

Your link did not work for me so I can't see the set up.
Twin carbs are not that difficult to set up. You can get them running 95% by following the set up procedures, especially the dell's the set up book for them is aimed at VWs and us really good.
If you are running stock heads and under 2litres then 36s on a 30 choke will be fine.

I was looking at these 2 kits using webers

Or

Let me know your thoughts

Cheers

the problem with those kits ^^^^ is there will not be enough height in the engine bay to put the filter on top of the carb

The biggest restriction with a single carb is the manifold, not the carb.

Changing to another centrally mounted carb changes nothing, in real terms.

Fit twins or keep it stock :)

I've tuned my twin Dellortos myself using just my ear and a cheap air flow meter. My bus returns close to 30MPG (UK) on a run, and runs nicely. Much more low end torque than with a single carb. :)

Have you tried Eurocarb , they do dells and weber stuff
