Hey folks. Well in order to keep buying those parts and keeping your buses alive and on the road etc, what does everyone do for a living ? Also curious because I'm searching for a possible new career and I wont lie I am being a nosey bleep and just want to see what you folks do. Cheers.🤙.

I’ve done all sorts in my checkered career, main things , apprentice butcher in Oz Boner here initially, worked in a bakery for a bit, started in the building trade and spent a couple of decades there including a lot of roofing, then into the direct sales malarkey selling all sorts from telecoms to cable to kitchens, surveyed for a few different outfits then worked at fund raising for various charities, but am now enjoying a few days a week as a grocery delivery driver. I’ve missed out several,, I know, but my grey cells are sluggish this evening.

By trade I’m an HGV and heavy plant mechanic, past 7 years I’ve worked at the Port of Felixstowe as engineer working on the trucks, container handlers & ship to shore cranes.

Approved Electrician by trade, then went into maintenance in 1990 working for a very large American company, folks will be familiar with their products Inc nappies.
Travelled the world with them moving up to become a Project Engineer responsible for upgrading the production lines then a Project Manager responsible for upgrades to the site as a whole.

Had the opportunity of voluntary redundancy just after Brexit and considering I had 31yrs in on a DB pension it was a no brainer. Got both myself and my DB pot out at the right time (pre Truss crash) and 3.5yrs later have no regrets about being retired early đź‘Ť

If I get bored, there’s always something I can turn my hand to.

I was a professional press photographer untill being made redundant/retiring. Now I keep taking the photographs of events I want to, taking as much time as I want and running my own Facebook page for local news showing the good side of Colchester.

Worked for the MoD for 36 years now in various roles. Safety & Environmental advisor for the last decade or so.
