OK, I know it sounds like a stupid question, but I'm looking at what to do for the interior of the van and we are debating the need for a sink.

What do you guys use yours for regularly?

Hi Pete,

We use our sink for all things - keeping keys in, and bits and bobs that might roll about and go missing all sorts really.
The unit itself in our westie is useful as we have the 12v coolbox housed in the old fridge compartment.

Hi

I have a westy sink in the bus, I don't think we have ever used it for its intended purpose, I even took the time to plumb it in this year so the kids could clean their teeth, but that just happened outside....

I think a urinal would make a better use of the space :D

Hi - I used to use it to store all sorts of stuff in when going along (handy for keys, phones, snacks e.t.c.) but my sink is now a cooker, I did refit water back in though using a standard small water bottle and submersible pump, a tap is still useful!

I'm in project phase so my sink is still holding small parts. A friend though, told me he fills his with ice and has a small 12v fan that blows over it to keep his wife cool during hot summer drives and reports that it's actually quite effective!

Depends on what kind of camping.
On site just teeth cleaning.
Wild camping and picnics its used for all the usual.

I refit my van a while ago and got the Smev sink unit, so it has been plumbed in and is used as intended.

Washing up and filling the kettle from the onboard water tank

I never used my Westy sink for anything other than storage, but now I have a pumped tap the 1st thing I do is top up the on-board tank and fill the kettle, my Mrs uses it to wash the fruit for the kids ect. For me its the fact its an electric gadget 8)

edit: must try cider in the tank..............

Now that's a mighty fine idea!! Especially as mine's fed from a small 10l bottle......

A freind of mine hired a westy once
the hire place said there was a delay while they removed all the pebbles from the water tank
The children of the previous family who hired it were bored so they dropped little pebbles from the beach down the filler hole
until it was full right to the top
Little darlings! :D :D
