I wondered why my passenger door window wouldn't wind down all the way, so today i finally cracked off my door card and had a look, This appeared to be resting at the bottom of the door, stopping it from winding all the way down...

It's kinked where it's bent, should it be straight?

What is it? will my van be falling apart?

It should be straight & its the rear channel for the window - should have that flexi felty stuff stuck in it.
Think haveacamper has his out will see if he can get a pic (the rear channel that is)

It's items 7 and 8 on here. Not the best picture but should give you the idea.

Thanks for the quick replies!

Wonder how it got there!?

Its screwed in place, looks like the holes are rusted through so the action of lowering/raising the window probably caused it to get pushed down into the bottom of the door.

Well everything in the door works fine, so i guess i don't need it!

Plus in that twisted state, its a gonner!

You do need it. Get a replacement it will prevent all sorts of problems later, like when the window drops out of the track and jambs. Look at it this way, if it wasn't necessary then VW wouldn't have fitted it.
