Hi all

will i need short shocks for my bay. its lowered 2 splines ar the rear. i need new ones.. just wondering what ones are good. they need to work on either a 1 or 2 spline drop (depending on where we are going in it)

thanks

As far as im aware you can use front bus shocks on the rear , one spline should be good with standard shocks. :)

2 splines on back will happly run on standard shocks, ive just measured..

but its down a fair bit on the front 300mm centre to centre so looks like ill need short shocks for that !

who makes good ones? kyb n e good?

I ran mine on standard rear shocks on a one spline rear drop and was fine, now its lowered on adjustable springplates the ride is awful ... Im waiting on some shorter ones now from T2D so will report back.

I changed my front shocks for KYB's but they werent enough, so I fitted Bugback coilovers which have sorted all my problems with arch rubbing.

i have 37 cm between centres on the rear and 29 on the front.. would be good to know what the t2d are like.

my rear is almost on the bump stops on the rear and ride if ruff atm too

Hi there new to the forum ! was reading this thread ( sorry to hi jack ) but my bus is lowered 2 splines at the back and it does
tend to bottom out quite a bit on the springplates as there very close to the max travel ! was thinking of notching them a bit
but may be going down the horse shoe adaptor plates ? anyone used these are they any good ?
Also i have a cut and turned beam up front and its a good 5 or so inch drop i have in the 4 years ive owned my bus changed the tyres to 175/55 ( to stop arch rubbing ) and fitted beetle rear gas shocks to the front which did help a bit but the ride is still quite harsh ( not much travel )
Now the question i was wondering would beetle rear coil overs be up to the job ? or do you guys recon the springs would just be too compressed once back on the ground ? Any other surgestion would be welcome ( appart from new beam and adjusters  )

she is a 72 crossover if there allowed on hear

Cheers Bac2ba6 :)

I got my rear shocks yesterday from T2D for the rear of my van. They are KYB GR2's and are 41.5 cm eye to eye open and 'about' 26mm closed.
Ill fit tonight and report back :)

Yeah, they worked a treat. :)

My only issue now is that the van must have been resting on the old dampers in closed position, so has now dropped a little lower at the back .... enough for the exhaust to scuff, so it now has to go up a tad.

One day, my work will be done!

I was told by the po mine had been lowered by 2 splines at the back. My family are getting bigger and i want to use a bike rack on the back for 3 bikes, so combined weight of bikes and rack will be about 60kg. When camping at the weekend there was an occasional thud, could be the shock mount which i will check but could be bottoming out on arch?

Question, for this set up am i best to go back up a spline or can i deal with this by changing shock absorbers. My knowledge of shocks is that they are to limit 'bounce' not necessarily stiffen the ride but what do i know. Standard shocks fitted by the looks of things at the mo. Advice appreciated.

Thanks Al
