Can anyone recommend me a carb for my 1641 I'm building. I'm torn between single carb or twin. I'm running twin port heads. Also should I get electric choke?

Vw heritage do a nice kit but don't know much about it

Or a standard one like this from empi

I bought these genuine webers for my 1641, the difference from stock is noticeable especially on hills, more mid range power. Seems to be quite a common upgrade. Glad I did I it.

I drive my bus all year round and dont think there is a need for a choke, just need to warm up for a couple of minutes before you pull off.

I've got a pair of 36idf on my 1600 and still get 30 mpg on a run

36 DRLAs and Megajolt seem to work well together. Mind you I am running a 1955cc engine ;)

Single carb, easy to set up and tune, but get a refurbed German Solex.

Else for a lot more expense... Twin carbs...

Thanks guys, I'd like to run single carb if possible, what about the empi ones, I see that they have taken over weber?!?

As far as I know they are poor reproductions try a progressive ??

The new standard carbs available are not great to be honest, they work but could be better, I would try and get yours refurbed or go for a set of twin 34's just make sure you fit a balance pipe if you do as it makes them run much better.

Thanks guys, so if I try and get hold of an Original one, which would be the best one to aims for, I'll have a look on ebay

I was looking at a solex 34 pict 3. Would this work well? I've been reading that these suit twin port engines quite well
