Hi All

Switching my T4 out for a 71 Bay with a 1600 engine worth around 7k (yes I've seen the light).

Can anyone reccomend a decent insurance company? Any ideas how much it should be costing? Comments on limited mileage?

Cheers, much appreciated

R & H on limited miles but just use it all the time (when there's no salt on the road) my and the wife fully comp (classic) breakdown cover round euro were 29 and i have 1 years no claims and its £100 a year  not got agreed value as i keep it on the drive not in a garage

i know which company not to use......sureterm, although i made a claim and its sorted now it was sheer bloody hell to sort out.......t..ssers!!!!
just my opinion though

Footman James are supposed to be good, you can include euro breakdown cover as part of their policy.

HIC trading as Just Kampers have been right on with my bus and my old wedge 8)

Hi there had a insurance quote through from Glynwood insurance service must say they seem very clued up on volkswagens ,and i learnt alot about what services are on offer .
71 westy ,34,fully comp 3000 miles a year will agree value if i can obtain the paperwork ,they also pointed out alot of classic insurance do not cover for when your out camping with all the gear so they offer up to £2000 on your contents .

priced at £222.00 may be worth a chat with them ,has anyone got any feedback on this company they seem to work close with the type 2 owners club :p

I've been with Sureterm for the last 2 years, never had any issues but never made a claim.
The only thing i dont like is that because its a 2nd car i'm not biulding up any no claims discount :( but the price for this year was the same as last year so.....
Me (33) the wife (39), fully comp, 6000 miles (maximum allowed apparently) agreed value of £4500 (will up this when re-sprayed) parked on the drive £180 ish
Will probably switch companies next time though unless no-one can beat the price

I went Footman James.

Classic policy with the following on a 1968 LHD Westy, lowered and with alloys.

- unlimited millage
- stored on my driveway (I do have a garage but just in case I get lazy...)
- I am 34 and wife is 33
- agreed value (just need to send the photo's in)
- no claims made no difference but they stuck my 4 years against the policy to keep it going
- euro breakdown included
- this is my only vehicle (other than my Z750)

Total cost was about £259.

I went with Just Kampers in the end, 249 a year fully comp, myself and wife both early 30s with european cover and breakdown recovery on 4000 miles a year. Just had to use the recovery service which was easy and quick with them showing up in 40 mins, not bad for a sunday in Devon! (bus doing ok now if you were wondering!)

i went with carole nash.

1970 with 1600 engine
agreed value (once i get and inspection and or photos) of £12000
limited to 3000 miles
breakdown cover
garaged
£200 accident excess
£100 fire/theft excess
i'm 44 years old (one of the benefits of getting older is cheaper insurance!!)

came out @ £111

i was going to go with footman james but their forms look a nightmare to me and they messed up getting documents to me about 3 times on the same car recently. price was similar though.
