Hi guys,

Which thread locker do you apply when torquing the gland nut? There seems to be a bewildering array of numbers. Loctite 272 seems to be the strongest I can find.

Any ideas?

I think any one will do, I have used super glue. Put it this way, the very best you can get but there's a bit of crap on the thread, it ain't gonna work so good. I think cleanliness is much more important than a particular brand.

Ozziedog,,,,,how thin will it end up ?

There is different grades for different applications. Strongest isn't necessarily the best...

I use red 263. It is strong enough to keep tight, even with oil and the heat the engine produces. I use the same on rod nuts/bolts if not ARP. It can be undone using a gas torch, so not permanent.
