Hi All, as normal im confused :) I have purchased a replacement winder mech for my 72 bay and looking at the manual it states :
"press the front window guide channel off its bracket and take the regulator assembly out through the bottom of the door" but how do you get it past the 1/4 light.....or do you have to remove the 1/4 light as some say yes and some say now :(

Your help will save hours hour pain, so thank you in advance

I was recently able to remove the winder mechanism and replace without having to remove the opening glass or the quarterlight.
An explanation of what I did can be found in this link:

I had to take the quarter light out as I found gat easier, it's an annoying job changing the winder mech, hope you haven't got s repro as I fitted one then in fitted it again the next day as it was terrible!

Just before you take it all apart...I thought my mechanisms were knackered - really stiff. Except it wasn't the mechanisms...I had changed the window handles for non-original ones, and when you tighten the screw it clamps the whole mechanism tight. Using a hack saw I removed a couple of mm off the back of the handles and hey presto all fixed.

Just a thought

Thanks again
