year of reg question

hi all my bay reg is UDV 158H which (after looking up ) i know is H reg 1969.

However on the log book it's down as a 1970? it was imported from the states last year so im guessing this is something to do with it? is there anyway i can get more info on this? surely if it's a 70 it should be J Reg

I think years overlap mate so mine is a 69 on a `G`

so a 70 would be an `h`

and my bro is a 71 and a `J`

H: 1 Aug 1969 to 31 Jul 1970
J: 1 Aug 1970 to 31 Jul 1971

Not sure how it works with US registration docs but Im guessing it was registered in US between 1 Jan 1970 and 30 July 1970 so DVLA have assigned H reg

DVLA will assign a letter anywhere within a couple of years of date sometimes.

As shown above reg dates span two years as registration date is from August.

To be certain post chassis number or pm me it and I can date it accurately for you.

If you wanted to change to a specific year after this I can do a dating letter through our club which is accepted by DVLA for £15 with all proceeds going to charity
