change your ...........

engine oil
plugs
leads
fuel filter
fuel lines
rotor arm
gearbox oil
anything else i have missed????

i am lucky if i 1500 miles a year let alone 2k,fair weather driver   i drive after all road salt is washed away and then wrap her up when the first salt is dropped and i find it hard to do high mileages so with regards to service intervals by the book they dont really match.
therefore i was wondering when you should do the above??
for instance engine oil change i would probably do it 3k miles max but because i do not do that in a year should i change it yearly if i do only 300-500 miles?????
any suggestions would be welcomed.

regards.

sharky.

hi, I would change the engine oil yearly even if you haven't done many miles, and check the plugs, points & rota as they may just need a clean up as they haven't done much work.
Fuel lines depend on what you've used, the over braided stuff only seems to last 12 months before it starts to break down, the marine quality is much better, change the filter anually though.

engine oil YEARLY beginning of seasion service
plugs every other year beginning of seasion service
leads (when needed if you buy the premium quality bosch leads you'll get 5 to 10 years out of them, if you buy the cheap sets I'd swap every other if not every year)
fuel filter YEARLY beginning of seasion service
fuel lines 3 to 5 years as required, keep an eye and do when needed
rotor arm and cap 3 to 5 years as required, keep an eye and do when needed
gearbox oil 5 years?

do you run points and condensor or electric ingintion, if points and condensor again every other year i would think.

These are my personal opinions, but i tend to overkill things knowing that I'd prefer to service at the beginning of the year and not do much during the season.

Definitely annually for the oil as you will get un-burnt hydrocarbons and low mileage, short journeys also ensures you get lots of nice condensation build up.
Alex's schedule looks a good little guide, as in anything, it is personal and depends on how you like to keep your vehicle. I dare say you could go a lot longer without changing the oil and service items and not worry about sludge build-up down the line as you might not keep the bus....
