    Ferry- Car,van or motorhome?

    I usually go by the vehicle dimensions - e.g. <5m length and <2m height or e.g. <5m length and <1.83m height depending on ferry company booking system - logging in as vehicle type is harder - don't book in as a VW Transporter!! and of course "T2" does not appear in the drop down list for VW...     yes I bought the stainless stock style system from heritage - £220 - and have done over 3k miles since no problems - exhaust note is slightly more metallic sounding than the standard system - fitting was totally easy, everything lined up - only diff from stock is that the pre-heat exchanger pods...

    new exhaust - left or right hot spot - does it matter?

    just fitted a new stainless exhaust system supplied by VW Heritage to my 1600 stock engine - meant to have a right hand hot spot but the new box has a left hand hotspot pick up pipe - fits OK and runs OK but the right hand heat exchanger got very hot - much hotter than with previous stock...

    I just bought a new Vege 1600 and was told to fit long reach plugs to their new heads - i.e. W7CC - if you have fitted new heads might this make a diff? Rob

    Trip to France advice..

    excellent choice - we've earlybayed down there a few times - surf capital means you'll meet loads of other VWheads - and lots of germans, dutch and eastern europeans who hardly ever see old VWs! Lacanau Ocean is a swell place too but we've done it out of peak season... take some of those grippy...

    advice on campsites in Germany

    try the Eifel National Park - we had some great times there - woods, lakes, heaths, ex military training wilderness, battle of the bulge remnants, happy folk, etc - and great for wildlife spotting - we found a site nr Woffelsburg - it's not nr Munich but it's a lot closer to the Channel...! Rob
