    Fuel Gauge - Continuity

You don't say what type of sender you have, but here is a diagram of the resistance at various fuel levels:

    Door mirrors

What's the correct (best) way to position door mirrors? Long side up or long side out. Just wondering as I have seen both ways being used, even both on the same bus. I suppose I could test on mine, but looking for opinions...

    Turning over by hand

Loads of info on the old interweb on how to do this, but basically find top dead centre of no 1 piston by either removing the spark plug and putting a screwdriver or something similar in the hole and rotate the engine with a spanner on the alt/gen or crank nut. Or remove the dizzy cap and...

    Overheating

Had a nice couple of days away in the van at Glampfest N Yorks. On the way home the engine started getting up to 120 C so had to take it slow until we got home. Checked today and found the alternator pulley nut had worked loose so the fan belt wasn't turning the alt or the main fan. Lucky it...

    Which Fuel do you use?

My daily drive is a diesel Mondeo, one time I had to fuel the 71 bay I accidentally put diesel in instead of petrol. I had pumped 2 ltr before I realised the mistake, then filled up with E5. I swear the bus ran better than ever, but haven't had the balls to try again...

    009 Distributor

I had a Pertronix in our bus fitted by the PO, it expired after we had the bus for about 4 years so don't know how old it really was. Decided Petronix was too expensive so went with a Powerspark Bosch 034 SVDA replacement (£65), been brilliant and have had the battery out and back in several...

    Best Pop Top Conversion?

I don't think the Doormobile is ugly, but then beauty is in the eye of the beholder as they say. We sprayed the inside of our dm roof with white underbody seal and crack open the 2 skylights at night, never had rain come in or condensation dripping from the roof. Some condensation on the...

    Trying to refit headlights 🤦🏻‍♀️

Make sure you haven't got too much of the wire feeding the headlights in the bowl, this could stop the lights sitting correctly.

    New headlights

Yep I replaced the front panel a few years ago, and it had the 3 tabs.

    New headlights

It could have been, but I replaced the wiring with a loom containing 2 relays. I kept the existing wiring for the sidelights and the trigger for the relays as they will still work if the voltage is less than 12v, and ran a new wire from the battery to provide the current for the lamps. I used a...
