New headlights

The old girl has had some new mk 1 Golf crystal clear lights fitted. Now I can dispense with the man who walks in front with his red flag after dark!

It could have been, but I replaced the wiring with a loom containing 2 relays. I kept the existing wiring for the sidelights and the trigger for the relays as they will still work if the voltage is less than 12v, and ran a new wire from the battery to provide the current for the lamps.
I used a loom like this one:

Replaced mine in 2018, do you have 3 tab headlight bowls in yours then?

Does that mean that I have to alter things or will they be plug and play, buying LED?

MkI Golf headlights are a straight swap if you have 3 tab headlight bowls

Yep I replaced the front panel a few years ago, and it had the 3 tabs.
