Its been running the last 12 years with these different length shafts!, but i am going to replace them with new shafts and CV joints all round, thanks for the replies

both shafts removed from van, all 4 CV joints removed, shafts laying side by side on the bench, 20mm difference in the lengths. not sure which side is the correct length.

mine measure 455mm off side 475mm nearside!

should both drive shafts be the same length?

I think the same as you, over time dirt etc. has got in. On closer inspection I think one of the four is Ok, but For peace of mind I think i will change them all, need to decide which are the best quality, heard differing stories of different makes.

couple of reasons for taking them off, started to get a clicking on left corners/turns, and MOT man pointed out damage/ deterioration of the boots. there are some noticeable grooves on some surfaces, general shiny patches on others.
