Hello! Very quick question. I have a ‘71 Cali early bay with a CA code gearbox. I have a CU code gearbox sitting in the garage- is the CU code box compatible with the early bay?

Has anyone heard of N2 Engineering? Selling refurbished early bay steering boxes on eBay with 12 month warranty.

Out of interest- I got the Dell 40s used and had a strip down and clean, replace seals etc. However, on the manifold for no 3 cylinder there is a vac take off for the servo brakes. I'm assuming this may well be causing the issue? If so, what is the normal route for vac take off from the brakes...

Ok done that! Seems to only come back to 15 degree BTDC at idle0 that does not seem right... maybe the 009 is kaput? The DRLA on No 3 seems to also be popping..

Hi I wonder if anyone has experience of Auto Linea crankcases? I have been building a 1641 on one and got to putting the final cylinder (No 1) on. I went to turn the engine a full cycle and it jammed. After investigation it appears that the corned of No 1 was catching on the top on the case...

Hi everyone I'm back after a few years! I used to have a '68, sold her and used my Beetle for a few years. Now she is being restored- so just bought a '71 Early Bay! She's Cali import, solid as a rock in patina, very low as well, with a weedeater beam. Good to be back in Early Bay territory...
