    Stock height or slammed low

    Both my Bays were stock height. I love the look of lowered Bays, but could never bring myself to do it. I always seemed to end up cill deep down some potholed lane in Cornwall that would have destroyed a lowered van.

    Yep, that what my tester always told me. The joints won't too last long with a split boot though, water and grit in, plus grease out = worn balljoint. Spliting the balljoint from the hub is relatively easy if you put the joint under pressure with the balljoint splitter, and then give the arm...

    no im not a fan of 1641's!!!!!!

    Ouch :shock: What do think failed first - the gudgeon pin or the piston? It looks difficult to tell - pin could have failed, causing the piston to follow suit - or vice versa. Eitherway it's not your typical 1641 based failure - which is usually overheated & warped thin-walled cylinders...

    One man and his campervan

    I expected to dislike this program, but I was pleasantly surprised and didn't :shock: The fella is OK, a lifer (20 odd years of VW van ownership), so will have been through the mill in terms of the highs and lows of it all. Top gig really, paid to drive round in your van, camping, cooking...

    Spark Plugs & Spanner

    Tip for dealing with spark plug removal. Get an old spark plug lead (with a good tight rubber boot) and chop it off with about 6" of the lead left. Loosen spark plug with spark plug socket until finger tight. Push on the old spark plug lead with tight rubber fit. Finish undoing the sparkplug...

I've heard the "I used Trade Plates" line so many times over the years - but does it really (and legally) negate...
