    Err.....?

No probs, they're not very heavy, i can lift a type one engine (1600) on my own, same with the gear box. Type IV engine (1700/1800/2L) is another story though as they're a fair bit heavier, it's to do with them being all ally instead of magnesium alloy.

    Earliest Danbury bay?

Doug very nice, very nice indeed, it looks as though the most common thing to go missing from Danbury's is the interior light diffuser, mine was brittle and fell off snapping into bits. Oh and yes i used to frequent the rushington area quite a lot back in 2004 ish could it have been my bus you...

    Err.....?

Yes it's easy enough to lift an engine with two people, it's best to lift it by the barrels/heads each side, don't grab the pushrod tubes though. A passat estate should take it easily, i've picked up an 1800 type IV engine in a fiesta before mind you that was a tight fit.

    Earliest Danbury bay?

Usually if you have the badge and the interior you expect it to be an original fit. The Danbury interior in mine was in pretty good condition as was the rest of the bus being a low mileage example that had sat in a garage for over 10 years doing nothing. I even had the complete tin first aid...

    Earliest Danbury bay?

After reading the history bit (quoted below) of the forum i found it interesting to see the Danbury bay listed as not in production until 69, however i owned a 68 Danbury bay. So does this mean i had the earliest Danbury bay? I'll check up on the build month and post it up, if anyone else has a...

Most expensive early bay ever ???

It might seem like a lot of wonga, but think about it, where can you go and buy a like new classic bus "off the peg" for normal money? You can't you're either looking at a resto or a new repro, neither of which is the same as "like new original", or cheap. Considering the insurance valuations...

Thanks guys, and yes shamful though it is (for the first official member of the forum to do so) i was inactive for quite a while. I've no longer got a bay, but still have my splitty, and i'm going to be shipping in some early bays sooner or later to keep, so i'll be back in the gang :mrgreen...

    Bus meets in Hampshire?

Yeah there seems to be a few of us in the Fareham area, i'm in Bishops waltham a few miles north of Fareham, and One of my mates lives in between Portchester and Fareham with a 71 Danbury, another mate lives in Eastleigh with his splitty, we should have a bus meet somewhere down this way. PS...
