got a 68 deluxe bay cali import... nearly ready to get mot and insure

i have had a few claims in last couple of years but wasn't expecting 1100
i valued the van at about 10,000

i used to have a panel van valued at 4500 and two mk1 golf gti's - had all 3 insured with footman james
for ander 400!!
Adrian flux who i'm currently with wont let me add the camper to my mk1 golf insurance - instead it has to be a new
policy.
they also said they do a campervan specific insurance but the van had to have a sinc/fridge/cooker etc etc

i hate insurance companies really and hate giving them my hard earned money so can anyone suggest some
decant companies for someone in my situation

I have mine with Cherished and they accepted the fact that we is still undergoing a restoration / improvement programme. Not sure if your extra driving activities have added to that sum, but a phone call will not hurt. Found them more than helpfull, and good to talk to as well

Ozziedog,,,,,,,,,,, Fingys crossed for yah !!

yeah im with cherished too, the guy remembers me we i ring and i paid 180 with full euro breakdown .

afgreed valuation and with all the suspension mods etc.

im happy with that so thats all i got to say.

john the horse

although everyone raves about Cherished, when i phoned up to insure my bus they said that i had to have had at least one year under my belt of driving a LHD vehicle on my own policy. it doesnt sound that bizarre when you think of it, but they were happy with the lowered, bus with 13" discs, 17" alloys and 3L porsche engine lol

i'm with Sure Term. i've heard mixed reviews about them but never had to make a claim so not really delt with them - only to part with my cash :(

Make a claim and you WILL PAY FOR IT :( :(

I'm with HIC, i've been with them for over 10 years. My bus is a 71 with an agreed value of £12000, I had a claim 3 years ago and i'm paying £275 full comp. Might be worth trying them for a quote....

RH Specialist insurers nice and cheap. No-one could beat their price! Think I pay about £150

I'm with RH Specialist as well. It was lower when I swapped the policy from a late bay to my early which came out this year at about £115 full comp with breakdown cover. But I am an old git of course.

I'm with RH too. Haven't had a claim form them yet but they have been straightforward to deal with when i have made changes to the policy for agreed value etc. It is a historic vehicles policy which is why you probably can't easily add this sort of vehicle to your current golf insurance i guess.

I've just gone with Flux (agreed values etc for £114 but I have full ncb)!

Does it need all of the above or just one or two - could you not put a removable cooker in and fridge and say it is a campervan??

Good luck anyway ;)

I must be really old then. I'm only paying £88....

I had my old van isnsured with Footman James. They paid out the full agreed value and the agreed to renew for my new '67 deluxe at only just more than the old amount. Great people!

For the record Cherished said they would not quote so soon after the theft.

Jesus! I'm only 22 and my bus is £670 a year fully comprehensive. I got it when I was 18 and it was £1200 then! I really can't work that out :-/

Karl

RH & Cherished wouldn't even quote me, something to do with not being interested in vans parked on the road overnight and not wanting to touch inner London with a bargepole ....

Adrian Flux it is then for another year .... and another, and another!
